Description

A.M.P. Radiation Oncology is a division of Associated Medical Professionals of NY. The division is an ACR Accredited and offers a full range of radiation oncology services. The division is staffed with highly experienced, compassionate personnel including board certified physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and registered nurses. All staff are employees of A.M.P. The division collaborates extensively with the region’s large oncology community through weekly tumor boards and shared referrals.

As the region’s largest private oncology practice, our mission is to provide patients with the best treatment available by utilizing the region’s most advanced radiation technologies in the most compassionate ways. Our technologies include state-of–the-art linear accelerator equipment such as the Varian Edge® platform. The division exclusively utilizes Varian hardware and software (ARIA®, Eclipse™, HyperArc®, etc.) for all aspects of treatment planning and delivery of SBRT, SRS, IGRT and contemporary radiation therapy (standard fractionation infrequently used). The division administers radiopharmaceutical therapy and participates in formal research protocols. With these therapies, the division treats all sites of adult cancer (no pediatric cancer). Genitourinary cancer represents the principal specialty site. We collaborate with physicians across our extended oncology community to treat breast, lung, rectal, pancreas, head & neck, brain, etc. The Radiation Oncology division of A.M.P. treated its first patient in January 2007 in Syracuse, NY. A major expansion of the department to Utica, Rome, New Hartford, NY region has been fully operational since April 2012.

A.M.P. is comprised of 28 expert urologists, urologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. The practice provides national leadership in urologic surgical oncology. The practice also provides national leadership in novel non-cytotoxic targeted and hormonal systemic therapies through a robust oncology research division and onsite research pharmacy. As a founding member of AMP, the Radiation Oncology division is an integral part of the A.M.P. multidisciplinary oncology team. The division has 3 Varian linear accelerators, 2 full-time radiation oncologists, 2 full-time physicists, 3 dosimetrists, and a professional office manager as well as a comprehensive front desk staff, billing staff, and nursing staff (patient navigators, patient coordinator, and nurses). The department is open weekdays. The radiation oncologists are not available for weekend calls. Weekday and weekend oncologic emergencies are automatically referred to local hospitals and their oncology teams.

Radiopharmaceutical therapy.

New Hartford location - CT Scanner here and can do some procedures here. Requires an overnight stay, would have to figure out the nursing piece. 1 machine, smaller city, multidiscipline

Looking for Syracuse location – Dr. Randall is retiring and seeking his replacement. He would go down to 4 days then 3 days then step away altogether from the practice.

Collaboration is key. Weekly tumor board w/chart rounds go over the nuances as needed.

One machine, 15 years old – end of life

SBRT; Now doing low dose – get some shielding; Seeds or HDR

ASENDO – T trial, internal or external beam. Best patient care.

Call – no calls for emergencies on the weekend. From an admissions stand point, we have 2 hospitals in town that have their own Rad Onc group.
